Pella windows/ Determining energy efficiency

Determining energy efficiency

Pella’s energy-saving technology can make a major difference in your comfort and energy use – with products that deliver up to 74% more energy efficiency*.

What makes Pella’s products so energy efficient? It’s how we put it all together that sets us apart.

Multiple panes of glass.

Two or three panes of glass means more layers of protection between the weather and your home.

Low-emissivity (Low-E) glass coatings.

  • These special coatings on the glass reflect heat energy.
  • In the winter, it reflects heat back into the room, keeping your home warmer. Low-E coatings also block the sun’s harmful UV rays, helping to prevent fade damage to your carpet, furniture and window treatments.
  • In the summer, Low-E glass reflects heat away from your home, keeping it cooler.

Argon.

This colorless gas is denser than air. Pella inserts it between the panes of glass to provide extra insulation from the heat and cold.

Pella innovation.

We craft our products with a variety of ingenious features that increase their ability to improve your home’s energy efficiency – such as different combinations of glass, thermal breaks to further separate the inside from the outside, and our exclusive snap-in between-the-glass blinds and shades.

*Calculated based on NFRC ratings for a Pella Designer Series Advanced Low-E triple-pane wood window compared to a single-pane wood window in winter conditions.
