Energy-efficient Pella windows, EFCO® doors part of sustainable schools
Pella, Iowa-March 6, 2012 -Pella Windows and Doors will be included in new LEED® (Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum schoolhouse built in Arizona in 2012, as a partner in the Green Schoolhouse Series
Three distinctive designs will replace portable classrooms or community centers in Phoenix area school districts. Construction of a 6,291 sf classroom and community-center building for Roadrunner Elementary School is now underway in west Phoenix. Two more Phoenix area schools are slated to break ground in 2012.

More than 20 percent of public schools reported having unsatisfactory indoor air quality, according to the U.S. Department of Education. It is estimated that students in America miss approximately 14 million school days per year because of Asthma, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
According to the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, controlling exposure to indoor environmental factors, like carbon monoxide, dust, and pollen, could prevent more than 65% of asthma cases among elementary school-aged children.
